Dublin City Council has officially signed a contract to acquire the Camden Yard site on Kevin Street, marking a significant step in relocating its main offices from the current Wood Quay location. This move aims to modernize the Council’s facilities and better serve the city’s administrative needs.
The existing Wood Quay offices, completed in 1981 and 1994, are set to be redeveloped into more than 500 public homes. This redevelopment aligns with the Council’s commitment to addressing Dublin’s housing needs by increasing the availability of public housing within the city.
Chief Executive Richard Shakespeare confirmed the acquisition in an email to councillors, stating, “Following the completion of the 10-week due diligence process, Dublin City Council has now signed a contract to purchase the Camden Yard site on Kevin Street.”
The relocation and redevelopment plans are part of a broader strategy to enhance urban living spaces and provide more housing options for Dublin residents. The Council’s proactive approach reflects its dedication to sustainable urban development and community welfare.
